Napaskiak is located on the east bank of the Kuskokwim River, along the Napaskiak Slough, 7 miles southeast of Bethel. Falling within the transitional climate zone, Napaskiak is characterized by tundra interspersed with boreal forests, and having weather patterns of long, cold winters and shorter, warm summers. The current population is 433 (2018).
Napaskiak, traditionally Napaskiaq (Central Yup’ik), is a traditional Yup’ik village dependent on fishing and subsistence activities.
